EZVIZ VIDEO DOORBELLS
By Thomas Rivière, Product Analyst — Last updated: 31 October 2026
A video doorbell lets you see, hear and speak to whoever is at your front door — whether you are upstairs, in the garden or miles away at work.
The EZVIZ range covers three distinct cases: the DB1C, a wired doorbell that replaces an existing one; the DB2 Pro, a battery doorbell supplied with its own Wi-Fi chime; and the DP2, a battery-powered digital peephole with an indoor screen.
The right choice depends first on your door and on the wiring already in place, well before resolution.
Wired vs Battery Video Doorbells
The Wired Doorbell: EZVIZ DB1C
The DB1C connects to your existing doorbell wiring and runs on 12 to 24V AC, so there is no battery to recharge and the device stays powered at all times. It is compatible with a mechanical chime.
Its sensor records in 1536 × 1536, a square format designed for the front door, with a 170° vertical field of view that keeps a parcel on the ground in frame.
It detects people, offers night vision up to 5 m and two-way talk, and is rated IP65 against rain and dust.
Battery Models: EZVIZ DB2 Pro and DP2
If your home has no doorbell wiring, or if you rent and cannot modify the installation, a battery model is the answer.
The DB2 Pro runs on a 5,200 mAh rechargeable battery, rated for up to 4 months in energy-saving mode, and comes with a Wi-Fi chime that takes a microSD card of up to 256 GB.
The DP2 replaces your door’s peephole: a 1080p outdoor camera and a 4.3-inch colour touch screen inside, on a 4,600 mAh battery rated for up to 90 days with power saving.
Key Features of EZVIZ Video Doorbells
A Field of View Designed for the Door
Standard cameras frame widely on the horizontal and often cut off what sits on the ground.
The DB1C favours height, with 170° vertically, so you see visitors head to toe and a parcel left on the step. The DB2 Pro favours width, with 176° diagonally, and the DP2 covers 136° horizontally and 166° diagonally.
Choose according to what matters in front of your door: the doormat and deliveries, or the path and its surroundings.
Person Detection
All three models detect human shapes to cut down on pointless alerts. The DB2 Pro and the DP2 combine a PIR sensor with this human-shape detection, which filters out many false alerts caused by light or branches.
None of the three spec sheets lists a dedicated parcel alert: to keep an eye on Royal Mail, Evri, DPD or Amazon deliveries, rely on the framing and on recording rather than on a specific notification.
Night Vision and Weather Protection
All three models list infrared night vision up to 5 m, enough for a porch or a front path.
The DB1C and the DB2 Pro are rated IP65; on the DP2, the outdoor camera part is rated IP54, provided it is fitted tightly to the door.
Place the doorbell within good range of your router or a Wi-Fi extender: a weak connection delays the live view when someone rings.

Installation in UK Homes
For the DB1C, check your installation first: remove the old bell push and look for two wires and a transformer delivering between 12 and 24V AC.
The DB1C is compatible with a mechanical chime; if your chime is electronic or your transformer falls outside that range, ask an electrician before buying.
Without wiring, the DB2 Pro fits with no electrical work, and its Wi-Fi chime plugs into an indoor socket.
The DP2 fits in place of your existing peephole: before buying, check that your door’s thickness and peephole diameter match the model.
In a block of flats, check with your landlord or managing agent that a camera on the front door is allowed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will an EZVIZ doorbell work with my existing chime?
The DB1C, the wired model, connects to a 12 to 24V AC doorbell circuit and works with a mechanical chime.
The DB2 Pro and the DP2 run on battery and do not use the existing circuit: the DB2 Pro comes with its own Wi-Fi chime, and the DP2 rings on its indoor screen.
Can I use a video doorbell if I rent my flat?
Yes, by choosing a battery model. The DB2 Pro needs no work on the electrical installation, and the DP2 takes the place of the peephole without touching the wiring.
The DB1C connects to the existing doorbell wires: ask your landlord first if that means changing the installation.
Where are the recordings stored?
The DB1C takes a microSD card of up to 256 GB. On the DB2 Pro, the microSD card (up to 256 GB) goes into the indoor chime, which keeps recordings safely inside the home.
Battery models record on detection to preserve battery life. EZVIZ cloud storage is available as an option.
What happens if someone pulls the doorbell off?
The DB2 Pro has an anti-tamper alarm that goes off if the device is removed from its mount.
Because its recordings are stored on the microSD card in the indoor chime, or in the cloud if you have enabled it, taking the doorbell does not remove footage already recorded.
For the other models, the spec sheet does not detail an anti-tamper feature.

App and Smart Detection
EZVIZ video doorbells work with the EZVIZ app on iOS and Android, giving you live view, two-way talk and motion alerts wherever you are.
The product pages we checked do not list Amazon Alexa or Google Home support for these three models, so check the current listing if voice assistants matter to you.
If you already use other EZVIZ cameras, the doorbell appears in the same app alongside them.
On the DB2 Pro and the DP2, detection combines a PIR sensor and human-shape recognition: the PIR picks up body heat, and the shape analysis confirms that it is a person before an alert is sent.
This double check reduces false notifications from passing cars or swaying branches, without promising a parcel or face alert that the spec sheets do not list.
What Happens When the Wi-Fi Drops?
The doorbells send video and alerts over Wi-Fi, so a weak or lost connection means no live view or phone notification. On the DB2 Pro, recordings go to the microSD card in the indoor chime. For a front door far from the router, a Wi-Fi extender or a mesh access point close to the installation point is strongly recommended.
How Far Does the Doorbell Detect People?
EZVIZ gives the DB2 Pro’s suggested PIR detection distance as a lab result, which varies with mounting height and temperature; the DB1C relies on person detection in the image.
The 170° vertical view of the DB1C covers the step up to head height, while the DB2 Pro’s 176° diagonal view covers more of the path.
Test the detection from your own doorstep after installation, and adjust the sensitivity in the app if passers-by on the pavement trigger too many alerts.
A wired doorbell such as the DB1C suits a home that already has the wiring for one; the DB2 Pro and the DP2 avoid that constraint, at the cost of periodic recharging.
